Lake Lansing Property Owners AssociationeNewsletter – May 18, 2006Find us on the web at www.lakelansing.org REZONING ISSUE OF CONCERNA request for rezoning 3.15 acres north of Lake Drive and northwest of Milenz is up for consideration by the Meridian Township Planning Board at their 7 pm meeting this coming Monday in the Town Hall Room of the Meridian Municipal Building. At the LLPOA meeting last Tuesday evening, members voted overwhelmingly to oppose this rezoning. They also asked that the LLPOA Board write a letter on their behalf. The request is #06040 (Wolenberg/Lawrence) and proposes to change the parcel from RA (Single Family-Medium Density) to RD (Multiple Family-Medium Density) or RDD (Multiple Family-Low Density). Primary concerns voiced were the potential for “keyholing”, increased use of the lake when it is already at the limit for healthy use, increased runoff to the lake caused by higher density building, and safety issues caused by more traffic. LLPOA will be sending a letter, but it is also important that as many residents as possible voice their opinion. Lake Residents are encouraged to either attend the Monday meeting or send a letter/email to Rick Brown at Meridian Township's Department of Community Planning and Development. To send an email, go to http://www.meridian.mi.us/contact/comm_plng_devel.shtm click on Rick Brown's name in the “Choose an Employee to Contact” list, then click the “email” button.
