Coming Events

August 9 (Sat) - "Euchre on the Lake". We’ll find the least windy spot, tie up at 5:45 and socialize until 6:30 when we will begin playing euchre.

This is an adult party – no children or dogs. Come as couples….bring $1 for each player (collected for prizes), whatever you’re drinking, and an appetizer to share. Be sure there’s a table on your pontoon to accommodate card playing.

Call Tom and Diane Wanagat 339-8596 if you plan to com. As host, they need a count to provide table snacks and dessert! If you want to come but don’t have a pontoon, we’ll arrange a ride. In case of rain, "Euchre on the Lake" will be cancelled.

Boat Hoist, Dock and Sea Doo For Sale. (cfarougi@comcast.net) I'm selling my Feighner 5,000 pound hydraulic (12v. power NOT 110v. around water) hoist with 23" canopy, guide on's and wheel kit, 24'x 4' of Feighner aluminum rolling dock and our 1990 (the one's you could have fun with before Sea Doo made them just boring rides) Sea Doo SP with stainless impeller, trailer and homemade hoist. The hoist and dock being aluminum will probably be worth more in the future the way aluminum is going up in price. This dock is cooler to walk on than Wolmanized. Had both. Photo by Penny Milliman (www.Penelopeart.com). Penny tells us she took the picture in 2006. "The fireworks far off to the left are Meridian Township fireworks" says Penny. "Tthe fireworks barely seen on the right are City of Lansing fireworks... and the huge display in the middle are Lake Lansing fireworks. The dock in the foreground is our dock on the North shore looking south."

Update on the Township trailer regulations.

Note: this update is provided by Marv Johansen and Tim McCarthy. They invite your calls on questions.

Several Lake property owners made comments during the public comment period on the trailer ordinance. The comments resulted in two of the trustees reverting to the need to address consideration of the Lake Lansing overlay district concerning trailer and recreational vehicle storage. (note although we keep referring to a trailer ordinance the new requirements also include storage of recreational vehicles).

President Sheahan presented the board with a letter and a resolution objecting to the proposed trailer regulations. Based on our comments and discussions by the board members it was decided to proceed with a nuisance ordinance addressing abandoned and inoperable items.

During the board discussion some of the items discussed included no storage of trailers anywhere on any property and storage of only one trailer (or recreational vehicle) on a parcel and it must be stored on a solid surface. Consideration of a trailer ordinance will again be discussed at the next meeting on July 15, 2008 at 6:00 PM.

Based on the items discussed at the July 1 meeting and lack of consideration of previous comments, discussions, and options in a staff memorandum it is imperative that we have a good turnout and support for the July 15th meeting.

Attend Critical June 9 Meeting - LLPOA Letter Outlines Concerns

LLPOA
Letter to
Planning
Commission

Please attend the Planning Commission Meeting Monday evening, June 9th at 7 pm to demonstrate opposition to the car wash/oil change proposed off Lake Drive.

Lake Lansing Property Owners are also encouraged to speak in opposition at this meeting.

President Joe Sheahan has sent a letter detailing LLPOA’s concerns about and opposition to the car wash and oil change facility proposed for the property immediately east of the Vision Collision shop.

"The proposed siting of such an environmentally risky and disruptive operation immediately adjacent to single-family housing and a protected wetland is inappropriate to the point of straining credulity," states President Sheahan. " It fails the 'straight face' test. LLPOA is confident that the Planning Commission will discharge its duties properly on this matter and have invited our friends and neighbors to next week’s meeting to observe the process of land-use planning."

The notice specifies the penalties that will apply to violaters, those governmental units that have jurisdiction and how to report incidents. Click Here to see a copy of the notice.
